Previously, a dedicated grid-tie inverter was required to send back turbine-generated electricity (250V DC) to commercial utility grids.
Since each country had different electric power specifications, it was difficult to meet every one of them. Airdolphin GTO's technology has solved this problem by enabling the use of commonly sold PV inverters. By connecting multiple Airdolphins to a single grid-tie inverter, the cost/performance ratio can be dramatically improved. Dedicated software prevents Airdolphin's maximum output from exceeding the inverter's capacity.
Intelligent Power Management System
Airdolphin GTO is an authentic SWT (Small Wind Turbine) that can continue to capture wind energy from light breeze to violent storm. This truly seamless power generation starting from wing speed of 2.5 m/s (5.6 mph) never cuts out* under very strong winds. At the rated wind speed of 12.5 m/s (27.9 mph), the system reaches constant rotation of 1,280 rpm and keep it steadily till wind speed of 20 m/s (44.7 mph) where Airdolphin GTO (250V) deliver its peak power of 4 kW. Beyond that point, Airdolphin GTO shifts rotation down to 600 rpm, but still continues to deliver power output at reduced levels as the Graph above shows, thereby securing as much energy production as possible.
* Turbine operation may be forced to stop due to excessive temperature-rise inside the turbine units as high power generation well above rated power output of 1.1 kW continues for certain period.

Captureability
"Captureability" is a new indicator created by Zephyr which shows how much energy can be captured from the nature. It is an absolute indicator, unlike static wind turbine performance on the test bench you will often see in the manufacturer's specifications, which reflects the wind turbine performance and wind characteristics at a real site combined. Airdolphin GTO has been developed in an optimal design concept so that the captureability is maximized, so will be the annual energy production (AEP). Key elements that ensure exceptionally high captureability of Airdolphin GTO are: advanced aerodynamic design/materials of the blades, sophisticated turbine power management technology and the state-of-the-art turbine units.
